Ficus Bench: An Outdoor Bench Made of Living Ficus Trees The living Ficus bench is an ecological, ergonomic outdoor bench. The seat is actually a tree trunk, while its canopy supplies natural shade. The bench prototype was built and planted during the fall of 2003 in the botanical gardens of Tel-Aviv University. It is estimated that the bench will be strong enough to support people in approximately 5 years. The bench was created using a technology called Plantware.
